At Institut Marquès, patients who have to undergo an egg or sperm donation are offered the possibility of choosing whether they want to do it with an anonymous donor or not.
In case of non-anonymous donations, it is up to the patients to choose the sperm or egg bank or, if they prefer it, bring their own donor (for instance, a relative or a friend). Furthermore, when the child will turn 18 years old, he will be able to obtain all information about the donor. On the other hand, if the donor is anonymous, the physician will choose him/her according to the physical characteristics of the future parents; this way, patients will only be provided with the necessary medical information (family history, age and blood group).
In compliance with the laws in force, we carry out treatments with non-anonymous donors in our clinic located in Ireland, while patients who prefer the anonymous donation can visit any of our centres in Spain, Italy or Ireland.
In both cases, the process is carried out with maximum-security guarantees and the excellent service that we always offer at Institut Marquès.
All women or couples from any country who require treatment with egg or sperm donation and who, for different reasons, wish to choose their donor. There are different types of motivation for wanting a non-anonymous donation. For example, the desire to communicate openly to a child that he is the result of a donation, knowing that when he will turn 18, he will have the right to find out the identity of the donor, if he wishes so. There are also women without male partners who would like to choose their donor or have a child using the sperm of a friend or a family member.
How does this process work?
Like with any other assisted reproduction treatment, the first thing to do is to ask for a first consultation so that one of our specialists can evaluate your case and recommend the most appropriate protocol for you, either an Artificial Insemination or an In Vitro Fertilisation. The first visit can be booked at any of our centres: in Barcelona, London, Ireland (Dublin and Clane) and Italy (Milan and Roma) or even through Skype.
The choice of the donor
If you decide to do the treatment with a family member or someone you know, both the person who donates, as well as the recipient woman or couple, will have to come to our Irish clinic in Clane. This is where the Artificial Insemination or the In Vitro Fertilisation and the embryo transfer will take place.
The second possibility is to undergo a non-anonymous donation through an egg or sperm bank. In this case, patients should contact directly our partner banks. This process is very simple and fast. In each case, we will provide you with all the necessary information about the process, prices, terms and conditions, shipping times and we will answer any other question that may arise. Once you will have chosen your donor, you will only have to ask for the eggs or sperm sample to be shipped to Institut Marquès Ireland, in Clane.
Each patient can choose the number of eggs they wish to reserve; in case of a sperm donation, your doctor will recommend the number of samples needed for your case.
