What do fertility treatments consist of?

Assisted Reproduction treatments offer medical solutions for those unable to conceive naturally. At Institut Marquès, our specialists perform an individualized diagnosis and recommend the most appropriate therapeutic option for each patient. We also provide emotional support and a comprehensive approach to accompany you on your journey to motherhood or fatherhood.

When is it advisable to seek medical help?

Seeing a specialist in a timely manner allows for a clear diagnosis and proper guidance to increase the chances of pregnancy.

If you have been trying to conceive without success for a year (or six months if you are over 37 years old).
When there are irregular menstrual cycles, diagnoses such as endometriosis or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), or reproductive history that may affect fertility.
For men, a semen analysis is recommended to assess sperm quality.

Regulations and options for assisted reproduction treatments in Spain.

Who can receive treatment

Although there is no legal maximum age, we recommend that the maximum age be 50 for reasons of safety and effectiveness of Assisted Reproduction treatment.
Anyone over 18 years of age who is fully capable of childbearing, regardless of marital status or sexual orientation.

Minor's rights

A child born through Assisted Reproduction has the same parentage and rights as any other child.
If donated gametes are used, the donor never acquires parental rights or obligations.
In female couples, both can be listed as legal mothers if formal consent is obtained prior to treatment.

Gamete and embryo donation

Donation must be anonymous, altruistic, and voluntary.
There can be no more than six live births in Spain from the same donor.
Surplus embryos can be donated to other patients or used for research.

Techniques and ethical limits

Surrogacy, cloning, and sex selection for non-therapeutic purposes are prohibited.
No more than three embryos may be implanted per embryo transfer.
At Institut Marquès, as well as at all other Assisted Reproduction clinics, only scientifically accredited techniques authorized by the National Commission for Assisted Human Reproduction are used.

Preservation of gametes and embryos

Gametes and embryos can be cryopreserved indefinitely.

In Vitro Fertilisation: a very pleasant experience at Institut Marquès
The transfer went well at the clinic and the massage and the acupuncture were a welcome addition. It was a much more pleasant experience than my previous cycles and so I just wanted to say thank you for the experience and making it as nice as IVF can realistically be.

On Monday, the day of the transfer, I was welcomed and listened to in everything.
Everything went well! I'm very happy and still very excited!

The acupuncture sessions relaxed me a lot, both before and after the transfer.
The fact that I saw and was able to document the video of the embryo and also the transfer phase made me feel very relaxed.

At Institut Marquès they have made the impossible possible
We would like to convey through these lines our deepest gratitude to Institut Marquès, Dr. Martí and the whole team that accompanies her. And not only for the result of their work with us, our little one, but also for the dedication, approach, means and interest that we have perceived in every visit, every call and, in general, throughout the whole process.
We come from a long way in other centres and, honestly, even if they had not succeeded (the first time!), we would have been happy with the work done. We have seen that interest, that dedication and concern, which is what can be expected, at least in a case like this. We know that there are other factors that have an influence, but what we have found lacking in other centres, we have got here from day one.
