The law doesn't set a specific age limit. However, most clinics recommend treatment for women up to 50 years old, provided their health allows it.
Donation is anonymous and voluntary. Donors undergo extensive medical and genetic testing, and each donor can have a maximum of six offspring throughout Spain.
Preimplantation genetic testing is legal and allows for the detection of genetic or chromosomal abnormalities before transferring the embryo to the uterus, thus increasing the chances of a healthy pregnancy.
Embryos can be frozen for long periods and used later. In the event of changes in the family situation, the consent of both original parents is required.
