VASECTOMY

Definition

Vasectomy is a surgical technique that is used as a method of contraception in males. It consists of the section and ligature of the vas deferens, these are the carrying conduits of the sperm from the scrotum to the urethra and this, in turn, transports them out of the penis. In this way the ejaculated semen does not contain sperm.

Vasectomy is a technique that is sometimes reversible. In order to revert its effect, it would be necessary to carry out a new intervention (vasovasostomy) and occasionally the recovery of sperm in the ejaculate occurs. In the case of wishing for a pregnancy and having a vasectomy, it is necessary to perform a testicular biopsy in order to obtain sperm and subsequently carry out an in vitro fertilization cycle.
