Dr. Carmen Morales, coordinator of our Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis Laboratory (PGD) in Kuwait (The PGD Lab), takes part in the Third World Congress on Ovulation Induction and Ovarian Stimulation Protocols, held in the Seychelles Islands this week. During the two conferences, the doctor will present, in this scientific forum, some of the most recent results and advances obtained by Institut Marquès.
First of all, she’ll present comparative data on the different techniques that are being used in PGD to distinguish aneuploidies (anomalies in the number of chromosomes), as well as the selection criteria of couples that could benefit from this diagnosis incrementing the pregnancy rates. Dr. Morales will publish the data obtained in the centre in the last few years and she’ll explain how the implementation of new technologies and protocols has improved significantly our results.
On her second speech, the doctor will present a retrospective study that has the objective of establishing a model which will improve the embryo selection in couples with risk of aneuploidies who, for religious, legal or economic reasons dismiss carrying out the PGD. To achieve that, the morphokinetic parameters (form and movement) of embryos –monitored by time-lapse (Embryoscope technology) during its culture, as well as biopsied and analysed by PGS-24 chromosomes– have been analysed.
The Congress is organised by the IVF Lite Foundation, the Society of Cross-border Reproductive Care and the World Association of Reproductive Medicine (WARM).
