Implantation failure

It is considered an implantation failure when two or more IVF cycles have been carried out without achieving a pregnancy.

After three unsuccessful IVF cycles it is advisable to go further in the diagnosis of the couple by means of fulfilling complementary techniques to the embryo, amongst them the Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD).

Often, embryonic chromosome abnormalities are an invisible cause for implantation failure (it is estimated that approximately 72% of the analysed embryos of these couples have chromosome abnormalities).

The tool that allows us to evaluate the chromosome dotation of the embryo is the Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis. This diagnosis method takes place on the embryo before its implantation in the uterus and provides information about the state of each of the fertilised embryos. It also allows only chromosomally healthy embryos to be transferred to the uterus. The PGD technique is the result of the combination of IVF and genetic analysis.
