Improvement in assisted reproduction techniques

During the last years, advances in assisted reproduction techniques have led to a significant increase in pregnancy rates in couples with fertility problems. At Institut Marquès, our success rates are among the highest in the world, with 89% in pregnancy rate per cycle in In Vitro Fertilization processes with egg donation.
In the last Fertility Summit that took place in Sitges (Barcelona), our experts have present the advantages of a single culture medium during the 5 days of the embryo’s development inside of the incubator instead of using a sequential culture medium (different culture medium with several nutrients depending on the day of embryo’s development).
Dr. Sergi Rovira, embryologist and Head of Lab new technologies of Institut Marquès, explains that “the single culture medium help us keeping the embryo all the incubating time inside of the Embryoscope without the need to change the culture medium. This optimizes the culture conditions and reduces the risks of manipulating the embryos in the laboratory”.
The Embryoscope is an incubator that keeps the stability of the culture conditions and has a camera that shows continuously the embryo’s development, optimizing the evaluation.
All patients of Institut Marquès that have done an In Vitro Fertilization with the Embryoscope can see “this film of the beginning of the life” at home or wherever they want through the embryomobile. More than 3.000 patients have used this innovative system created by Institut Marquès. An app that lets patients to enter in the lab of IVF and observe their embryos as the biologists would do it.
